When you think of Miami you think heat, beaches and Baywatch. It’s the perfect getaway for spring breakers with its buzzing club scene, gorgeous weather and plenty of shops to visit. Miami city is huge, housing all sorts of different companies and celebrities alike, while Miami Beach is the place to be for scenic beach views. From the centre of the city to the communities that surround it, Miami boasts all sorts of activities and hidden gems. Here are some of our favourites.
Explore Miami Beach
The Miami Beach area is so iconic you can just imagine the Baywatch lifeguards running in slow motion! Whip out your towel, grab a book and relax on one of America’s best beaches. If sand isn’t for you, there’s still plenty to do. The beachfront is an art deco paradise, boasting loads of restaurants, trendy bars and plenty of clubs that go on into the night. You also get the best view of the thunderstorms over the sea that light up the sky at night. You don’t get to see anything like it anywhere else.
Swim at the Venetian Pool
Venetian Pool is a community pool located in Coral Gables, a 15-minute drive from the centre of Miami. Costing $15 for entry, you can spend all day there relaxing and swimming. There are onsite changing rooms with lockers and a café to grab something to eat. It’s designed to look Mediterranean and the water is emptied every day, meaning it isn’t chlorinated. The perfect place to go and cool down in the mid summer heat!
Get Out on the Water
Miami has a number of places that provide water sports, from kayaking and paddle boarding to boat rides and paragliding. There are plenty around to have a look at, and choose which best suits you. Being able to do water sports allows you to truly appreciate Miami’s tropical beauty while enjoying a thrill ride at the same time. A great activity to make the most of the sun!
Hit the Mall
Miami is known for its shopping so you’ll struggle to walk a few blocks without finding a mall! If you’re in need of clothes then this is the right place. You’ll find a lot of familiar brands, from H&M and Pandora to high end like Chanel and Dior, but also endless local boutiques and American brands. Make a day of it and eat out as well! Miami has a lot of family run restaurants so it’s a great place to try new food and explore.
Check Out Wynwood Walls
Wynwood is a community in Miami which flourished when a local artist wanted to bring the community together through public art. It is now an outdoor museum showing off the incredible artwork of the locals. It is free to enter and takes around an afternoon to walk through. It’s only a short drive from Miami centre so you could use public transport or just grab an Uber. If you’re not usually the type of person to walk around a museum, this experience is a little different and will open your eyes and show how talented the graffiti artists are.
Take a Celebrity Boat Tour
If you’re a celebrity junkie then this is the activity for you! There are boat tours that take you around Biscayne Bay, where the celebrity mansions are located. It gives you the chance to get out on the water, explore more of the area and see what it’s like to live in such a luxurious place. This is a great
